Planning & Progress

Downtown Wilson has changed dramatically over the past two decades, but that transformation wasn’t accidental.

Long before new businesses opened, historic buildings found new life and more people began calling downtown home, the City of Wilson and its community partners were planning for what the center city could become. Those plans have helped guide public investment, encourage private development, and prepare downtown for thoughtful, sustainable growth. And as Downtown Wilson continues to evolve, we’re still planning ahead.

Explore the plans and studies that have helped shape Downtown Wilson and are guiding where we go next.

And the planning continues. A new Downtown parking study and greenway plan are expected to be adopted by the end of this year, followed by launching a new Downtown Master Plan in the coming year.
